Metal stud framing


Used most often in office and apartment buildings, metal stud framing has several advantages over wood.  They are always straight, and won’t split or shrink as environmental conditions change.

However, they do require specialised tools and knowledge to install, so a professional fitter is your best option.  It‘s a skilled project and takes time, but the finished job is strong and sturdy.

Plasterboard/ Villaboard/ Firestop wall and ceiling


Plasterboard is a material found in most construction projects.  Formed from a sandwich of gypsum between outer layers of lining paper, its properties will differ depending on the make up of each component.

It has properties that help prevent the spread of fire and insulates against noise.  As such, it is extensively used in many properties, although it’s not recommended for wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.  

Villaboard wall lining is much more resistant to water damage, and therefore better suited to kitchens and bathrooms.  It will take a tile happily, or wallpaper, or good old fashioned paint.  It’s also great for areas that see high impact, such as hallways and kid’s bedrooms.

Exposed & concealed grid ceiling systems


These suspended ceiling systems are seen in many commercial buildings.  Examples include hotels, office areas, shopping mall, supermarkets and theatres, to name a few. Heating costs are reduced and sound absorbency increased.  They can also be aesthetically pleasing, and hide service cables.
